Elaine Goodlad is an icon in the world of professional figure competitions. She won her first place at the Emerald Cup figure Championships and later competed in the 2003 figure International competition. There is so much to say about her and her modeling and make-up artist career, but for now, we are going to focus on the fact that she is the subject of my latest painting.

Elaine and I have been friends for several years, and the best thing about our friendship is that it is one that is unconditional. She has a heart of gold and a soul that is as beautiful as she is.

Although this isn’t the first time, she has been a model for one of my paintings. “What’s Next” is a painting inspired by Elaine and one that I had created several years ago. It is featured in the book, Dream To Launch.

This latest painting of Elaine, shown above, is a moment in time during one of her memorable competitions. The city she competed in is in the background and the glorious moment is captured in her smile. I believe she told me that after every competition she would go out and celebrate with pizza! Elaine has worked hard and has been diligent to be the best she can be, and in doing so has been an inspiration for many women across the planet for years.

What is so very cool about these two images, is that it is also one of what will be a series with her and Darrem Charles who still actively competes and is a professional bodybuilder. They have both been a part of this bodybuilding competition community and fitness world as icons and legends. For years they have known about each other. Yes, it is true, this is going to be an inspirational story of two people who have found each other after spending a lifetime inspiring others, not to mention working hard being the best they can be and in many cases against a lot of hurdles and personal challenges.

Together they are now creating workshops to help others who are inspiring to take a position on stage in the world of fitness competitions. Both Elaine and Darren will be holding workshops for competitors to become their best on stage. Elaine has made a career as a model and make-up artist and travels across the country to help young competitors not only look their best on stage but, if I know her as well as I think I know her, she always has the right advice and suggestions to help with diet, posing and attitude.

It has been an honor to be commisioned to create these paintings of such iconic figures and wonderful human beings. Both of them are genuinely kind and gentle people, and I am honored and privileged to call them friends.
